Shoulder Injury Treatment

Shoulder injuries can occur due to a variety of different causes, ranging from sports injuries and overuse to trauma or falls. Some common types of shoulder injuries include acromioclavicular joint sprains, rotator cuff tears, dislocations, and strains or tendinitis.

Symptoms of shoulder injuries often include pain, swelling, tenderness, and limited range of motion. Depending on the severity of the injury, treatment options may include rest, physical therapy, or even surgery in some cases. If you are experiencing any symptoms of a shoulder injury, it is important to consult with your doctor right away in order to determine the best course of treatment for your individual situation.

If you are prone to shoulder injuries due to your activities or lifestyle, there are some things you can do to help prevent them from occurring. For example, addressing any underlying musculoskeletal imbalances through exercise or physical therapy can be helpful in reducing risk of injury. Maintaining good posture while lifting heavy objects and avoiding repetitive motions that strain the shoulder joint are also important strategies

How Are Shoulder Injuries Treated?

Shoulder injuries are a common occurrence in physical therapy, and they can range in severity from mild to severe. Depending on the type of injury you have sustained, your treatment plan may involve a combination of rest, medication, physical therapy exercises, and other treatments.

If you are suffering from shoulder pain or another shoulder injury, it is important to work closely with your physical therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan that meets your specific needs. Your physical therapist will assess the severity of your injury and help you make the right decisions for managing your symptoms and returning to full function as quickly as possible.

Some of the most common treatment strategies used for shoulder injuries include range-of-motion exercises, soft tissue mobilization techniques like massage or cupping. You will also get a progressive strengthening program to work on strength of the shoulder, scapula, and arm. The goal is to improve the tolerance and capacity of the arm to be able to return to the activities you love without pain.
